I have been thinking a lot about agility from the bigger picture. How might more people benefit from agile ways of working?
It starts with meeting people where they are. As much as I like Scrum and believe it leads to better outcomes, I need to start talking about agility more before launching into implementing it. No matter what the job, process, or discipline we work at, there are opportunities everywhere to apply the principles of agility.
Let’s take an example: suppose you were working on a project with a team utilizing a phase-gate approach. Would there be a benefit to having a regular retrospective to figure out how to work together better? Over time, would that lead to a better outcome? I think so.
What examples can you think of where applying agile principles would help lead to better outcomes, even in more traditional approaches to project execution?
